Clinton Pushes for Energy Efficient Casinos

“If every casino in Las Vegas invited someone to come retrofit these buildings…it would be huge.” Hillary Clinton at National Clean Energy Summit.

In her address to to attendees of the National Clean Energy Summit this week, Hillary Clinton talked of the US becoming the “clean energy superpower of the 21st century.”

“Climate change is the most consequential, urgent, sweeping collection of challenges we face,” said Clinton. “The threat is real, and so is the opportunity … if we make the hard choices.”

Pointing to the energy savings achieved by the Empire State Building’s energy retrofit which was led by Jones Lange LaSalle and Johnson Controls, she suggested that every casino in Las Vegas should do the same. “If every casino in Las Vegas invited someone to come retrofit these buildings…it would be huge, ” she said.

She went on to promote Nevada’s successes in renewable energy and to encourage R&D and investment in this sector. The just-announced deal to build Tesla Motor’s gigafactory in Nevada was another talking point. Read about her statements here.
