San Leandro High School Students Demonstrate the Power of Data to Transform Facilities Management

Using OSIsoft’s leading real-time operational intelligence software infrastructure and echoMESH’s meters and service, students at San Leandro High School learned how easy it is to make a difference and transform their environment through simple data-driven insights.

As part of a hands-on STEM project (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math educational initiative), students analyzed power usage patterns over time from local public buildings and determined that lights could be turned off for longer periods between work days and unused equipment could be removed from the grid to conserve a significant amount of energy.  These simple, quick, but significant wins got them recognition in a keynote at OSIsoft’s 2015 Users Conference. A video describing the project can be seen here  and a press release about their efforts is here.
